Ms Leung Siu Kwan, Cindy

Cindy Leung received her Master of Arts (Music) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Major in Voice and Minor in Piano). She was awarded an Italian Consulate Scholarship to further study in Italy in 2006. She received a project grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2007 for her research on the development of opera in Hong Kong. Her publications include The History of Opera in Hong Kong – A Review of Lo Kingman’s Productions , Aural Guide for ABRSM and Demo Series: ABRSM and Trinity College examination pieces for voice. Leung is currently the General Manager of Musica Viva Limited, involving over eighty projects in her ten years of tenure. She also assisted in coordinating the “Andrea Bocelli Asia Tour…With Passione Live in Hong Kong 2013”.

She has been Selected as one of the delegates in the 2015 and 2016 Performing Arts Market in Seoul organized by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, she promotes locally produced operas in the international market for performing arts exchange. Under the “Overseas Training Scheme for Arts Administrators’ sponsored by the HKADC, Cindy conduced visits and communicates with opera houses in Italy, the United States, London and Australia in 2016-2017. She is sponsored by the HKADC to participate as a delegate in the Classical: NEXT 2018, 2019 and 2020 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Leung received a cultural exchange grant from the HKADC to co-produce a gala concert with Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra at Saigon Opera House and an opera production in Hanoi, Vietnam and the Philippines in 2019. She recently received a cultural grant again from the HKADC to produce Menotti – Double Bill, and a cultural exchange grant to produce Cavalleria Rusticana in Hanoi and Philippines. 

She has participated over 20 productions include: Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Le Ville; Donizetti’s La Fille du Regiment, L’Elisir d’Amore; Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Magic Flute; Verdi’s La Traviata;  Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors; Handel’s Serse; Expo – Shanghai’s  The Legend of ZHANG Baozai, Don Giovanni, Maria Stuarda etc

She is currently teaching at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (SCPS), Yew Chung International School, Chorale Director and General Manager at Musica Viva’ Opera productions and also a registered Music Examiner.
